Any other Rabbits in Baltimore, Maryland?
Hi, everyone!
I just bought two S601 Superflows over the past couple of months. The pull start one is in nice shape, other than a slightly damaged frame and a stuck engine. The other one hasn't been picked up yet, but it probably has a stuck engine as it is very rusty, but hopefully an undamaged frame.
I will be picking up the 2nd Rabbit next weekend, I hope, and then assessing both scoots to see what needs to be swapped to make one nice one.
To be honest, as I have several scooter projects going now for myself and others, the Rabbits will likely sit until maybe November, at least.
I'll keep everyone posted.

Re: Any other Rabbits in Baltimore, Maryland?
Incidentally, the pull-start one is a 601A, AFAIK...NOT a C.

Re: Any other Rabbits in Baltimore, Maryland?
not that it matters at all. There weren't many mechanical differences that i can see ....
some of the differences i've noticed is that the older ones dont have a reserve position on the fuel tap ... or cosmetic things like round speedo and metal front legshield-cover. etc.

Re: Any other Rabbits in Baltimore, Maryland?
I really wish Kouji Yamada made his pages in English as well as Japanese, because there's a lot of really useful information over there. Unfortunately, my Japanese isn't quite good enough to be confident translating his pages...
Anyway, a pull-start doesn't necessarily mean 601A, B, or C. On the page for the S601C, his site says:
--S601C, which has whitewalls and kickstart (8,010 made).
--S601CS, which was presumably cheaper and had blackwall tires and no kickstart (only 1,132 made)
--S601C2 (11,475 made) -- rectangular gauges and mirrors
--S601CS2 (1,225 made) -- no specifics mentioned
--S601C3 (6940 made) -- changes to rear brake.
Based on those comments, it seems that round-speedo, square-speedo, kick-start, and pull-start 601s could all be S601C models. He doesn't have any comments about what differentiates the A or B models from the C models, but it sounds like all the variations we see could potentially be C models. As Eric says, it doesn't make much difference anyway.
The more I dig, the more I get confused. I'm guessing the S601CS were intended for the domestic market, so perhaps the blue paint and pull-start go hand-in-hand....

Re: Any other Rabbits in Baltimore, Maryland?
I am seeing many small differences in my two scooters. The blue one has a round speedometer, pull start, blackwall tires (might be replacements), and the gas cap has ridges on the outer edges like a coin. Vin is 34006.
The gold one has a square speedo, whitewall tires, kick starter, fuel cap has points like a star. VIN is69588.
As I dig deeper I'll find more differences. I'll post them here.
