Chain tension question


Today my mechanic friend assembled the transmission case, with new bearings and seals. He didn't close it, because he thinks the rear chain has a suspicious slack, which may indicate wear:

I took this chain to a chain shop, one that specializes in chains, rollers etc, and the owner (also a scooter restorer) said it looks fine.

So? It's obviously not a number-of-links problem, because the slack is not that big. Is this normal? Is there danger riding like this?
