Re: guess rabbits r gone

I'm still here too (occasionally) -- my 2 kids and my business take up most of my time. I have had the engine/transmission from an S402 sitting on my workbench partially disassembled for several months now -- other things just take precedence. As for this forum, I wish there were a setting that would let me know if someone had posted, or maybe a digest of new posts. As it is, I periodically remember to wander over here to see if there is anything new.

A couple of things:

1) I set up this board as a quick-and-dirty temporary replacement for the awesome forum that Jean-Francois Gratton had created at fujirabbit.com. At the time, that website was still working, but the forum portion was down because he had apparently lost interest (temporarily or long-term?) in Rabbits. Since that time, that original site disappeared and someone else has taken over the domain name and set up a quickie 1-page Wordpress site. I have just contacted that person to see if it's a legit Rabbit owner or a spammy email collector. It's sad to see the knowledge that had been listed there apparently gone forever.

2) In my mind, forums have 2 valuable functions -- to enable communication among Rabbit owners, and to provide a repository for Rabbit-based information. I am not sure a forum is the best place for communication -- there are a couple of Rabbit groups on Facebook, and if someone does post a message there, at least the members of the group get a notification that there is a new message (unlike here). As for the 2nd function...hmm. I think a website or a wiki is a better way to store knowledge than a forum...let me think about it. Maybe I can post this info in a page on my personal website, or....wikipedia? Maybe I can convince Kouji to add a few pages in English, or maybe I can even translate some of his pages, or???

Anyway, I'm glad to see that people are still popping in here periodically, but it isn't a very fancy forum and I wonder if other technology may be more appropriate. At any rate, I would suggest that, if you use Facebook, you join "Rabbit Scooters International", and also that you join the"oddscoot" Yahoo group.

No, definitely not gone, just busy restoring and riding.

I am in New Zealand and have a restored 1958 S82K Fuji Rabbit Junior up and running, in fact went for a 50 km ride over quite big hills two days ago and it went well.

My brother is riding another one that he has left in it's original livery, but has reconditioned all working parts so he can get it registered and warranted in a few days time.

We have two more of the same model in very poor condition but Pete will probably be able to cobble together one rideable model out of the two, however it may not be 100% Rabbit at first.

I have seen several for sale here in New Zealand over the past year, in fact there is one on Trademe right now.

Wishing all Rabbit enthusiasts safe and happy riding in 2015.

Heather

Not gone, I have a 1965 Rabbit S402BT in the garage. Believe it is mostly original, not too beat up, but not pristine either. Is missing the racks, but runs. I run it around the block once in a while and would like to fully restore it, but life, work, and money prevents.
This is a scoot that I would buy immediately if something like it was produced today. It is well built, rides like a luxury vehicle, and was far ahead of its time in 1965.

Not really..... just hard to find. Many have given up on their projects due to lack of parts. Now one has to buy the whole bike if available just to get one or two parts.
I have restored a S202 and also have an all original.

I did get an email today to let me know that someone had posted to this thread, a good thing as I had not checked it for a long time.

A bit further news on my 1958 S82K Rabbit - a few months ago my brother and I went on a five day 980km road trip on our Rabbits over some of New Zealand's most beautiful but hilly and remote roads. Our scoots proved to be very reliable and other than fuel required no attention at all. Fantastic!

I did post some photos on the Facebook site Rabbit Scooters International if anyone is interested in seeing them. I will try and post a few on this site, but I am not sure I remember how to do it!!!

I have 2 Rabbit Superflows S 101 extremely rare. I found my rust bucket in N. California and the second one in Pennsylvania. Neither of them run and I need help finding a key for the ignition.
